My van is leaking oil at the front of the engine. Can't really see where but is leaking quite alot all down the front. Is there a common failure point? Crankshaft oil seal? Camshaft oil seal? Can these be changed with the engine in the van or is it easier to remove the whole engine. Any advice greatly appreciated.

Best if you clean as much of the oil off the engine then start it up and watch to see general area where it leaks from.

Cheers guys. I'll get it through the MOT this weekend and then take the engine out for a re-build I think.

It appears to be the camshaft oil seal. So i am replacing that  and the 2 crankshaft oil seals. I think the rocker cover gasket was also leaking so i have bought a complete gasket set. Hopefully this will sort it.

I took the engine out and half the bolts were either missing or loose. Replaced the head gasket, reset the tappets after re seating the valves, good de-coke, new camshaft and crankshaft oil seals and new cam belt. Now runs like a sewing machine, really smooth. I am so glad I did this. Happy to help anyone going through the same thing.
