club subscription

just wondering what other members thoughts are on some kind of subscription each year to van for running the site that benefits everyone,does not have to huge but a token from every member ?

yes its fair if you incorparate club meets and diagnostic and how too areas only visible to club members yes turn it into a club.i am a member of the estima club with loads of benefits and online video tutorials 15 pounds a year with discounts on campsite meets we travel and stay at all the meets free club barbecues its great to see them all lined up at the end of the meets

Clubs vs. website and forum debate.

Both have the same aims, and reach them through different means. It's the formal nature of clubs which many, like myself, hate and avoid. Ultimately, clubs end in tears!

not about a club,its about a small contribution we tried the sticker which titch donated his time and materials free for a fiver did not really take off,van goes through all the trouble its about saying thankyou.

I think the biggest thank you van wants ..is for us to use his site...he must be so proud of what hes done and its still growing...he did this off his own back  because its something he wants to do...he doesnt want money or any other complications ..he has always said hes doing it because he wants to..this site is free for all and its great..its open to everyone not just those who can afford it..my vote is to keep it as it is...and we all appreciate vans efforts in doing what he does ...and im sure the only return he wants ..is to see his work has not been a waste of time....

so untill Van actually gets fed up or he starts to incur any costs ..it sould stay free and accessable...to all rascal enthusiasts...

involving money would complicate things for van...where would it end ....committee//secratarys//...life is complicated enough...keep it simple...

I appreciate the idea guys, but the club/forum is not really big enough to be able to offer things like discounted camping and other items.

Personally I am perfectly happy with the odd donation, and still stick with the line that rascalenthusiasts will always be a free site/forum and that donations are just that. No special treatment other than a thank you, and I'm happy so many of you use the site.

All I would say is at future meets, whoever has arranged it/hosted it...it might be a good idea to just pop a 'tip jar' out somewhere for people to pop the odd quid in to thank the host. I am still amazed at TITCH giving away these stickers for free for me...whenever the next meet comes around I owe him a full keg let alone a beer


Again, thanks for the suggestion guys but beyond a donation for a sticker the place is staying free. If the place ever got overly expensive to run, could always to some rascalenthusiasts t-shirts/mugs

I know what you are saying JJ, I partly think it's right what you say, but if Van is happy at it then it must be OK.
Relating to the windscreen stickers I do, it's really just my little bit towards Vans efforts.
In reality I try to use offcuts all the time, the only real expense is the postage, but, what the hell, it's all in a good cause. If everybody shouted for a 'sticker' at the same time, there might be a delay posting them all, but what the hell...I did offer and it's still there for anyone that asks!
