Remember the Vauxhall Viva MK3?
They had a habit of stripping the distributor gear. One nice mobile distributor with a useless clamp!

Fords Anglia and Cortina were the same.If you were one tooth out putting the dizzi back the rotor arm was inbetween two contacts when the points opened so was trying to fire two cylinders at once.Flames shooting out of the carb and the odd explosion were a good clue. Smiley
