Ive just noticed this on mine! I didnt see them the first time when i had it up on stands and undersealing the bugger.
As ive now got a very heavy tool box, compressor, extra battery, parts, mowers, and lots more crap i think ill be ok in taking them off. My poor van is on its arse! Good job ive got some good comercial tyres.

Ive just had another look underneath...... how do you actually take the buggers off? The botls have been tack welded onto the retaining straps.

I think the weights were fitted as part of the brake system upgrade, I don't advise changing anything on the vehicle build as this can affect your insurance, and may cause problems on the MOT test, when they do the brake test.
I very much doubt vauxhall fitted them for something to do.
They will be there for a reason.
Never had a problem fitting an exhaust to any of them ??.

It actually looks like i will have to remove the exhaust to remove the weights as its in the way. I do have lot of weight in the back of the van now, all located on the back axle. It still has enough power to move (just) but would like to remove them if possible.
I understand about the insurance thing but if they wernt fitted to earlier modles and have a working brake limiter valve then i dont see much of a problem, until the things in the load area are removed and the back end becomes very light again.
Im not doing this straight away as its MOT soon so ill ask the tester about it.
