Hi everyone.

I've been looking for a Rascal / Supercarry for a few weeks now but they seem to be very thin on the ground up here in Scotland.

Are there any other Rascal fans North of the Border?

Gary.

There was a decent looking black pickup in Glasgow a couple of weeks ago but it only had a four-speed gearbox - which is fairly unusual I believe, most buyers went for the five-speed option.

All the early pickups came with the four speed box which is a much better box. I have never come accross a noisy one. Some later vans & pickups supplied to councils had the four speed, I guess as a cheaper option. Derek.

Yes, the pickup was an early one on a "D" plate". The body and chassis both appeared to be in very decent condition. I wonder if the early models had better rustproofing than the later ones...

All early vans/pickups seem to have been better protected, post 1992 Japanese vans seem to be the worst. Derek.

hi gary,
i just recently bought myself a rascal. i live on islay! i got mine on ebay from windsor. I just got a cheap flight to heathrow and drove in back up to glasgow in about 8 hours driving steady 56mph. so i wouldn't be put off by having to travel to get a good one.
hope this helps

Hi Rosco,

Yes, most of the decent Rascals seem to be down South. I like the look of this one:

What sort of fuel consumption did you get on the drive back to Glasgow?

i think i filled the tank twice and it was empty when i got back up. It didn't seem to bad really although having had it a few months now it isn't as fuel efficient as i had expected, i guess thats down to the aerodynamics.

Thanks for all the info on fuel consumption, it'll help me to estimate the costs involved if I buy a Rascal that's hundreds of miles away.
