Hey,

In the past couple of weeks, I've noticed a change in my temperature gauge readings (not attributed to the warm weather - it was doing it in the damp too!).

Since the new radiator went in, the temp gauge would rise no further than a quarter. Now, after letting it run for a couple of minutes as I always do, I set out on a journey and during the first couple of miles the temp gauge tends to rise to just under half, for a couple of minutes before coming back down to a quarter where it will stay forever more.

I decided to give it a service this weekend gone, and it's made no difference to that. The only thing I can think of, is that the last couple of times I've topped up the rad with distilled water rather than coolant. Maybe time to empty the whole thing and fill again? All the other levels are fine...

Obviously this isn't like before Derek did the overhaul, where the temp would sit on half with the hot blowers on full to stop it from overheating :-)

Hello Jon, It is doing exactly what it is supposed to do. The temperature rises upon starting until it reaches 82 degrees & shows about halve on the guage then the thermostat opens & the hot water goes through the radiator & cools down & shows a quarter on the guage which is just perfect.  Derek.
