You may know this but ... I didn't so for the benefit of anyone fitting wide boots...

At the Rally I bought a set of 6.1/2j's from Rob Morgan. Thedse were great as they did not require spacers, which meant that they extended the track width by a total of 4".

I knew these would extend beyond the wheel arch and was in the main concerned about the legality (MOT) although they look great and have improved the handling beyond belief .. (see pictures elsewhere under Mikes New wheels). To lessen the effect I opted to use an undersize tyre section, 165 which meant that no part of the tyre side wall extended beyond the wheel rim. What I hadn't thought of was the fact that the two inches is just about the maximum rear track width you can use without the sliding side door hitting the roadwheel. If you were to fit a 185 tyre on these rims I could not open the door !!!

OK so this might be obvious but now you have read it here don't go made on thge rear track width ..you have been warned. (which makes me wonder about that picture we saw on the website recently with the rear flared arches ?? did the owner never use the side doors ?  Teaspoon ..Ihope you got this info intime before fitting your own rubber after the rally... ?

good point mike. i had 195's on mine, but it depends on how far the wheel sticks out to start with
i have read somewhere, that you can extend the "thing" that runs in the guide when you open the doors, to make the door stick out further when its opened.
hope you know what i mean! as i dont have a van, i cant show you  Sad

Surely if the door supports were extended you would have a very draughty van & the doors wouldn`t lock.. Derek.
