HI have just clocked the mileage at 65k, what is the amount that a timing belt and /or cam chain needs replacing- how big a job are they and expected costs involved

Hello Rico, the manufacturer gives no mileage/ time to change the cam belt but 72,000 miles seems to be the perceived wisdom. I fit new ones for £70.00. I am based in Dartford, Kent. Not a megga job providing everythig comes apart easily. If it doesn`t then it is a lot of grief. A new belt is around £20.00. You need a manual to follow the right sequence to do the job successfully. Derek.

Hi Cheers
that sounds like a really good price, Unfortunately I live in staffordshire and have no chance to get down that way. Shame cos would put the business your way if a lot closer. Suppose gonna have to put faith in local mechanics

Its a straightforward job - just follow the manual thoroughly and methodically. Its easier with the radiator out although not necessary, I certainly wouldn't bother - just take care not to skin your knuckles getting the fan off! The only part needed is the belt itself although as you need to take the fan belt off you may as well put a new one of those on while you are there.
Even a novice should be able to do it in an afternoon
