Hi All
Hope you all had a good  holiday period.
My question?  Summer/Winter setting flap.
Anybody got a diagram has to how the pipes are fitted to take advantage of this flap. To provide warm air to air filter to aid combustion, and warm engine up  quicker,  I can see where it fits on the air filter, but where does it suck up the warm air from exhaust, sorry to appear dense, the flap control has sheared off also, a drawing of the system would be of great help.

At the moment the fitted pipe is connected to both ends of valve unit. and i believe the flap inside the unit is in the closed position.

Thanks

Screbo.

Over the cast iron exhaust manifold is fitted a pressed steel enclosure. On the top of it is a right angled 40 m.m.pipe exiting from it. This enclosure collects the hot air from the manifold & sends it to the air filter/carb via various duct pipes & the hot air flap. Do you have the exhaust enclosure fitted? A lot of vans have lost them over the years. Derek.

Thanks Derek,  your  much appreciated answer solves it all, that fitting is  missing, that's why  I could not work it out, I was beginning to doubt my sanity, not being able to sort it.

Best Regards

Sorry to bring up an old thread but it's coming into the winter session over here and can someone post a picture of where the settings are? Cheers, David.

Hi David...its called the warm air flap valve...on a pick up its easily seen and reached..its just underneath the drivers side of the vehicle attached to the chassis (frame)...im assuming the van is the same but not sure...but if you follow the flexible metal tube from the steel cover on the exhaust manifold...it will lead you to it...and a small metal bar type leaver is all you move ...
