Hello.

My Radiator Expansion Tank doesn't appear to be doing anything!

The water level in it doesn't change from the start to the end of the journey.
At the end of a drive the water in it is still cold, suggesting none has come out of the radiator.

The pipe connecting the two is fine.

Does this mean the radiator cap isn't working, anything else I should be looking out for.

you have the makings of a serious problem ...you need to check the system as something isnt right ...could be cap...could be a blockage ..could be water pump..could ...probebly thermostat stuck shut....but one thing is certain you need to investigate ...dont be going on any long journeys till you do

it will allways get warm/hot as when the water in the engine gets hot it expands into the expasion tank...hence the name...unless you are only using it for very short journeys....like to the end of the drive and back...lol

The only defect that would prevent expansion is a failed radiator cap. Readily available from your local parts shop or I can send you one. Does the engine feel cool after a 10 mile run? Derek.

Yes. The engined seemed to be cool after a bit of a drive.
I'm going to get a new radiator cap off the parts shop in the village tomorrow and see if that make a difference.

Any body know what I should be asking for.

I went into my local branch of Camberley Auto Factors, they have about 30 stores across the south, so are hardly small time, and they couldn't supply me with one.
No matter what they typed into the computer they could find no parts for Bedford Rascals / Super Carries. It's hardly like I am after parts for my Lamborghini. All I wanted was a Radiator Cap for a Rascal.

Alternatively Del, how much are you after for one?
