Hi all hoping to get going on a project fairly soon so this should be a really useful place to be. .  on a side note, anyone have any experience of the Daihatsu 1.2 diesel engine they dumped in their hi-jet? have been advised to stay clear .. . .

thanks.

Often the reason the head gasket has failed is due to corrosion to the alloy head/iron block so expect the unexpected when you lift the head. Changing a head gasket is not too difficult. But the other problems in the cooling system need to be attended to as well. Never pay much for a van that overheats after 20 minutes or the hoses go rock hard due to excess pressure plus of course oil in water/water in oil showing as cream in the cam cover or brown gunge in the radiator/expansion bottle & white steam/ smoke out of the exhaust. its a bedford rascal ...not a zastava polenez  ..they are easy to work on infact they should be sold in a kit like airfix models..

has anybody ever worked on a zastava ...you have to remove the exhaust to change the spark plugs...a nightmare

I got a trailer, but weighed in the ramps!!!
They used to get two tonne tractors on the trailer, but were tooooooo heavy for my liking!
I can always get a trailer though, what's you got in mind?

yes. anythin attached to a "tow" vehicle is classed as trailer and u need to right licence entitlement. B+E. . . if i did my class 1 hgv i wud get my car and trailer added for nothing to licence. . . but only wanted c and c1. . . type ur question into google nd it will throw some stuff back at ya. . I asked the same question the other week. . .

and to the later post , what i had in mind was me buy rascal project, someone kindly trailer it to my unit, in return for some sort of payment Smiley
