Yes, what a pig it was to replace. Of course the new one was not as stretched as the old one lol.

Undid the alt slider bolt, slid the alt to the end, the old one popped off nicely, hooked the new on around the crank and fan pulley no problem, then do you think i could get it on to the alt pulley........noo chance.  Angry got fustrated and tried to prise it on with a short flat screw driver, again nooo way. so i said f**k it just unbolt the alt from the mounts and pop it on like that, hey presto no problem. Then having to wrestle with the alt to re-align the mount hole was a nightmare, but i got there in the end  Grin

Anyones advice for next time ?

Ohh im going to be replacing the thermostat and water pump tomorrow, as the thermostat is not opening but i am going to do the water pump aswell just to be sure.    Advice ?

Heat up the thermostat housing bolts with a blowlamp till there very hot. Then be carefull & gentle when trying to undo them or there is a strong chance of snapping them off.
Replace with copper grease on the threads & shanks.
You will have to remove the alternator belt & the timing belt to change the water pump. Replace the timing belt at the same time.
