Hi i know the rascal engine goes into a sj410 if you change camshaft (angle of dizzy blocks pipes) and sump but what about the other way round?Huh

these issues shouldnt should not affect it if going in a rascal???

anyone done this?

Not actually done it but the SJ engine sits upright so sump & oil pick up will have to be changed as well as distributor housing.

Yep, done this a few times, best way to describe it would be to say, change the block and head, fit everything else from the rascal, inlet manifold, exhaust manifold, engine mounts etc.
You will need to change the distributor drive on the camshaft, along with the distributor housing, as it will fowl the rear engine cover otherwise.
Also sump,
Camshaft drive comes off the end of the camshaft with a puller and a warm air gun but be careful as it is brittle due to it's hardness.( teeth can break off) Do the one you don't want first, so you can get a "feel" for it.

thanks for your advice you guys....pretty much what i thought...for £50 for the engine i might aswell grab it..it was a known good runner. so cant go wrong

thanks...van now running great..after a lot of chopping and changing engine out/in...out/in...it runs. settled on my original bottom end with new rings a new head gasket/water pump the cylinder head off my replacement sj engine a new pipe set which had been lying around my cousins unit for years and a good flush she is now great...oh and a new choke cable while i were at it. now waiting on my maiden voyage!...

look forward to bumping into one or two other camper or van drivers in future
