evening all, going to have a look at a rascal tomorrow and am now thinking of possibly insurance.... anywhere people can suggest for me? i use lynbrook for my old mk2 transit and series 2 landrover but dont think they would insure a rascal as its too "modern" im only looking for s,d and p use as i have a works van etc, so not for business use. but the only places i have found so far still consider it as a work vehicle and quote me for that...

I wouldn't worry about it either way as long as you get a decent deal. I have generally found that getting commercial insurance can often be far cheaper than private. And the fact that it is designed as a commercial vehicle is irrelevant to insurance - any decent insurer should recognise that there are many reasons why you may want a van for non-business use (eg you have large dogs, a hobby such as motor-x etc etc). Unfortunately insurers now have to compete on price and generally aren't interested in anything that strays from the norm. There are plenty van insurance comparison sites about now - vancompare.com is one.
(i recently had problems insuring mine as it had an extra window - I got it in the end but pay over the odds so I can't recommend mine for price)

The company is Guernsey based (like me) but I use the van about half the year in the UK because I take it to uni. Not sure if they cover vehicles based outside of Guernsey, but CI people can get quotes from UK based insurers so I can't imagine it would be a problem.

I think everybody has different circumstances and different needs....so when it comes to insurance then all i can add is ...shop around ...what turns out to be a good insurer for one doesn't mean it will for the next person....get comfortable...do what you can online...then ring round the others....TRY THEM ALL...
