She was sluggish and un smooth on acceleration, but would some times hesitate to start when cold some mornings.

I replaced the:

Spark Plugs
HT Leads
coil HT Lead
Rotor Arm
Dizzy Cap

You may think that may be pointless as i have not replaced the points, but the reason is i am unsure how to replace and re-align them. My dad used to be a mechanic in the time when points were the norm, so he is going to take em off and clean em up for me, however i shall pay close attention to see how is it is done for the next time Smiley

After having replaced what i did, i did notice a massive difference in smoothness and general pick up.

Fit a new condenser as well as the points.
Clean the distributor casting with abrasive paper where the condenser touches it to maintain a good earth.
Cut a slot in the new condenser to make changing it easier. You will be able to slide the condenser out without unscrewing the fixing screw completely & possibly losing it.
Set the points gap to 0.60 m.m. not as in Haynes manual.
This is important as the points gap will close up as the points bed in.
Check/reset the timing with a ignition timing strobe light.
