Just wondering if I've got a problem with the open solenoid issue. Or after nearly 3 weeks of no use and these colder nights a dead battery is to be expected? Battery is very new.

P.S

I've got the two batteries (leisure and car) could be a wiring issue had a split charge relay fitted but I could'nt trouble shoot this as I don't have the know on electrics.

Cheers gang.

If you can get hold of a multimeter, check the current draw from the battery. Anything much more than about 20mA will need investigating.

Measure this by taking the negative terminal off the battery. Put one end of the multimeter on the terminal clamp and the other on the battery post.

Keep pulling fuses out until the problem goes sway. That's the basics of the troubleshooting procedure.

With a charged up battery turn the ignition on but dont start it. Watch the dash lights.
See if they stay bright or fade away. If they fade away you have a bad short cicuit on the ignition system.
If they stay bright try starting the engine. If the dash lights fade away your solenoid is probably "open circuit" & the battery power is leaking away to earth.

Thanks the the hints all, I'll try your advice when I get the chance - actually I left the battery on trickle charge on the counter over night. Got up this morning and found the battery in a pool of liquid. Turns out the liquid was battery acid!! I mopped it up with baking soda so problem sorted.

Not got for a battery I only bought in august. Fortunately the company are eager to hook me up with a replacement foc.

I had a similar problem when i first had my bambi, that also had a new battery, but was going completely flat over a few days, i traced it to bad wiring on the split charge relay, no problems since  Wink
