Starter motor - Cog worn
«

Hi lads, been a few weeks since I posted here last, been very at work.
As you can see by the picture the cog is worn and I'm having trouble finding a replacement, my starter motor is working grand but is not.
Is the same cog used in any other vans or cars?
Cheers.

That is possibly still salvagable.
Thoroughly clean of the rust etc. on the shaft in front of it till it shines. Then rub a bit of graphite on it,[lead pencil] to lubricate it. DO NOT PUT OIL OR GREASE ON IT!!!
This may cure it.
The reason it has chewed up is because it hasn`t been engaging quickly & smoothly due to sticking on the shaft & likewise not disengaging quickly.
By the way its a cog not a cong.
Derek.
