Hello there,
I know  this is a bit of a long shot, but would any one be able to recommend a good garage/mechanic in the vicinity of Edinburgh, what the hell, Scotland! We are need of a decent mechanic who will be confident replacing the carb on our Bedford  Bambi. I understand this is not a particularly technical job, just a bit tricky apparently... but you would not believe how difficult it is is to actually find someone who can help us (I am completely none-technical! - the Haynes manual seems like a different language to me!)

thanks for any help/suggestions!!

Try T A Harris in Portobello:

I take my Rascal there for its MOT and I know that they already look after at least one Bambi.

You're very welcome.
Do let me know if the new carburettor makes a difference to your Bambi.

Hi!
Thought I would post an update on our Bambi.. so we finally got the new carb (thanks Dell Boy!) fitted -the garage that was recommended was indeed a good one, and we just got back from taking our Bambi for a spin - so far so good  Grin
No random stalling/cutting out and spluttering, and we even got up to 60mph!
I think we may wait till some warmer weather before we attempt to stay out in him though... we have  snow here and it is bloomin freezing

I'm delighted that my local garage did a good job for you and your Bambi is running much better now.

When I took my van in for its MOT, the mechanics seemed to be quite enthusiastic about it and a few of them came over for a chat about Rascals. They used to look after quite a few of them in the past when they were owned by many of the shops on Portobello High Street.

I know what you mean about the cold weather, I was doing a couple of little jobs on my Rascal this afternoon but had to give up after an hour.
