Hi Fellow Rascal enthusiasts!

We recently bought a Bedford Bambi but unfortunately our carburetor is in need of some TLC. We are not sure if it is simply clogged up (and therefore may be fixable using something like 'Redex' .. would anyone recommend this??) or if we need a new one (we don't have a clue about engines etc! and it seems most mechanics round Edinburgh are the same - they won't even consider stripping and cleaning our carb... and we don't readily have spare parts for it anyway). I have read a few posts on here that mention Del Boy, AKA the god of  refurbished Carbs- so Del Boy, if you are out there, do you have a spare carb?  (Bedford rasacal (Bambi) 1987 reg.)

Thank you so much for reading this far!

best,
Anjie

Welcome to our happy little group Anjie.

It's nice to know that there is another Rascal owner in Edinburgh. If you see me in my blue 'K' reg van, do give me a wave.

Hi there! thanks for the warm welcome! You all seem such friendly nice folk!

We took our van to a car tuning clinic and they checked it out on a 'rolling road' - turns out when the van dies (after about 10mins of hard driving) fuel is getting past the fuel filter - so they concluded the carb was faulty/clogged.. we have 'ordered' a new one from Dell Boy - hopefully this should sort things out! Trouble is findng a  decent  garage in /near Edinburgh that can do the work for us- they all seem to be not  v keen on taking this on! all wet behind the ears mechanics! so if anyone can recommend a good mechanic in Edinburgh then we would be soooo grateful!

It is really good to hear from other van drivers from near by - will definitely keep our eyes  peeled for you! but to be honest, we can't drive too far at the moment since the engine cuts out every 10-15mins! (we keep pulling over and letting it tick over so that the carb chamber can fill back up with fuel!)
