I have a late Jap built Suzuki Rascarry that I will probably be retiring. It has electronic ignition - I think fitted as standard on these.
Anyone know how easy it would be to take it out and fit onto a standard UK built Rascal?

You`ll need the distributor housing as well because they are slightly different for electronic ignition.

Because the earlier ones do not give enough adjustment unless you take a hacksaw/file to the earlier one & modify it too suit.

So set timing, swap over complete distributor with housing, wire up and rest timing? That simple?

I don't understand why you need to change the coil though. I've replaced the coil on an electronic ig van before with whatever spare coil I have (usually one off an old Land Rover) and it worked fine?

You dont, I have used the ordinary coil with no problems but if you have the correct one use it.
I advise steer clear of the bright red ones sold on ebay for about £40.00.
I have had dealings with five of these & they have all failed.

You're worrying with this Delboy.  I bought one of those electronic ignition kits earlier in the year, and haven't had chance to fit it.  Was hoping it was going to save having to play with the points, but I am now having serious second thoughts.

It sounds like you are better of getting the original if possible
