Hi,

Not been scared off, just busy!  With a dog, two motorbikes, Land Rover, and now the van we always seem to have a list of jobs...

Well, its running pretty well at the moment - we went to Fleetwood this last weekend overnight.  Now that we have got most things (pots/pans/cutlery etc etc) in the van it's good to be able to just jump in it and set off!

We bought a cab rear window off someone on Saturday, and it turned out he used to own the van!  He sold it to someone in Chorley who ony had it a month then it was sold to a chap called Chris in Retford, Notts where we bought it from.  Apparently it used to be known as "Danny Boy" and had a big sticker saying that on the front.

Various jobs on the list - one is rewiring the split charge to the battery in the body as the wires are too thin for my liking, and maybe putting a battery on the drivers side battery holder on the side of the chassis no another split charge.  The bullbar also needs to be put back on so the spare wheel isn't getting in the way.

How heavy is the steering supposed to be on a Rascal?  It's fine when driving but needs two hands when parking.  I am surprised that it is as heavy as the Land Rover - or are there some grease points somewhere that need attention...?

Sounds like your steering idler bush may be seized.
Jack up the front & spin the steering wheel.
If it turns very easily all is well, its just down to the weight you are carrying.
If not, investigate further.
Derek.

Hi

The steering shouldn't be that heavy - its certainly not as heavy as the unassisted steering on an old Vauxhall Corsa we use as a run around.

Derek is definitely the man in the know though  Grin
