can anyone let me know what i can do to get my tailgate latch to stay in one piece?
in the pictures the pin at the bottom holds the spring and catch mechanism in place but the head of the pin will not stay in place because of wear
what can i do to keep this in?
i have limited tools so could u let me know what i need to do the job??

is the pin meant to be in solid or be free to move im guessing it needs to be solid as the spring moves the catch around

trouble is i need it in place first then i would have to try and do that but there is nothing solid behind it holding it in place so i'd just keep knocking it back through the hole

It should be solid. The pin is a tight interference fit when new.
Over time it rattles loose & the only cure is to weld it.

pin has been welded and the latch is now working, so it no-longer looks like my van is owned by a gipsy with the tailgate tied shut lol
