Hi Everyone
Tim from Bedford Rascal recommended this site to me and here I am on my first post.
Last november I  bought a 1989 Bedford Rascal Danbury conversion (no pop top) with 50k miles on the clock and in good condition.
My partner, little dog and I have had great trips in our wee van having skirted the north and west coasts of Scotland.
It was stolen recently and recovered but the insurance comany want to write it off.  I will then buy it back for the scrap value, have it fixed MOTed and VIC checked.  The insurance company want to value it based on one ad they have found at £1,200 and there pay out will be that less excess.  I paid £2,100 and still think this a good price.  The problem is I can't find any evidence of another for sale with similar mileage and condition
What I'm looking for is any evidence of current or recent classified adverts quoting what I would consider an accurate price.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Many thanks

Write back to them and express your intention to show a more accurate valuation, send by recorded delivery too.

I hope you have the van in your possesion and if so, don't cash a cheque until you are satisfied. cashing it would prove acceptance. Don't let them put anything direct into your bank either, they see that as legal acceptance too.
Don't be put off by them, stand your ground and find some 'advertisements' or suggest you can get someone to forward copy invoices of similar vehicles sold, albeit they will need to be recent ones.
Even adverts from eBay as an example can be printed off & forwarded.

I'm sure some folk could put on a couple of spoof ' for sales' ??

Thanks for the advice.  Insurance co. have offered to sell at scrap value of 15%.
I'll speak to them about expert valuations and make sure they'll accept one.  They seem to shoot down anything I instigate.  I'll carry on looking for the classified ads.
Thanks again.

Welcome to the site  Smiley

Regarding the value you may want to check on autotrader as they tend to have the higher prices, also on eBay you should find quite a few for sale to give the insurance company an idea of true value. They seem to be getting pricier with age now.
