Spent the whole morning going through Lockpickers van swapping carbs etc. trying to get rid of a chronic misfire that has been present for quite some time & had not been cured despite changing all the electrics & a carb swap.
Eventually came to the conclusion that either the coil or electronic transmitter was failing.
Fitted the original coil & points on & away she roared. After months of misfiring it now runs beautifully.
It was an after market electronic kit purchased from ebay not the original Suzuki type.
I have had dealings with four of these cheap systems & two have failed.  Not a good record!!
So beware. If you have problems & you have a kit fitted treat it with suspicion & swap back to points to ensure the electronic is o.k.

Aside from the reliability issues, any opinions on whether it is worth going electronic ignition? thoughts, opinions, results from anyone? How hard it is? Looking for something to do to the van, and am tempted by this, however the reports of reliability issues are a little bit worrying  Embarrassed

Yes, but you have the correct Suzuki one JJ.
Its the bright red aftermarket ones that are iffy.
I think I have come across yet another one giving problems.
There for sale at 36 to 40 pounds on ebay.
They can be fitted but I would leave the condenser in place & carry the points/wiring in the vehicle so if a problem arises the points system can be refitted quickly.

My van is also on electric ignition. I use a Lumenition system and it seems to work well. They are quite a bit more then the eBay ones (about £150) but it's a good upgrade.
