Hi All. Can anyone offer any advice on how to turn the fridge on in our Bambi? It's an Electrolux 3-way, looks like the original fridge, but I can't figure out how to get it going! I assumed there would be a switch somewhere to switch between the 3 power sources, but I haven't found anything like that yet, or even any sort of on/off switch. I found the little red switch at the bottom, which clicks when I switch it on.

I got the hob going yesterday, now I just need the fridge so I can have cups of tea whilst working on the van Grin

Cheers, Matt

Hi Matt

If you look at the Bambi Owners Club site and put in a search there are details of lighting the fridge.

We have some original operation manuals for the fridge and some re-print ones of the original bambi owners manual, which gives info on all the interior fitments.
If you would like one give us a call.

Hi - I forgot had these instructions saved, hope they help.

Lighting the Burner (see fig 2)
1. Turn on the valve of the gas bottle and open the isolating tap located in the dinette seat. next to fridge there are 2 switchs one for the hob and one for the fridge.
2. Turn the knob (4) of the gas control valve so that the indicator mark is opposite setting No.3 which is max.
3. Switch on the ignition switch(5) by pushing in the switch against the Symbol ‘1’. The neon light in the switch should start flashing indicating that sparking is taking place.
4. Push in fully the knob (4) of the gas control valve and keep it held in. When the burner lights, the neon in the switch will stop flashing. When this happens, keep the knob (4) held in for a further 15 seconds or so for the thermocouple over the burners to heat up, then release the knob. If the neon starts flashing again, it indicates that the flame has gone out, in which case repeat operation No.4.
5. After lighting the burner, leave the switch(5) in the ON position.
Note:- The Switch(5) is left switched ON so that in the event of the burner going out (due to a gust of wind for instance) the igniter will automatically start sparking again and relight the burner - providing of course that gas is present. If the burner does no re-ignite within 30 to 60 seconds, the flame failure valve will close and automatically shut off the flow of gas to the burner. If this happens, sparking will continue to take place and the neon light in the switch will flash continuously to alert the user that something is wrong or that the gas bottle is empty and needs replacing.

Thanks guys! Looks like it should turn on when the engine is running using a relay connected to the alternator. So much for an on/off switch! Might wire one up anyway...

Relay connected to the alternator is better than one connected to the ignition, as it won't try and use the leisure battery (and skinny wiring) to start the vehicle.  On mine it had the latter and the insulation on the leisure battery wires had hardened with the overheating.  Don't do the relay a lot of good either  Shocked

Under the seat at the side of the fridge there may a cigarette lighter socket plus a plug to put into it. This will turn the fridge on if this is what you have fitted.
