This is my first post outside of 'new' so bear with me. When driving my beloved bambi I have to chose what time of day I travel as the cab gets very very hot if the weather is warm. The heat appears to be coming up from the engine, and I have been advised recently that this is because I have no insulation, other than the actual seat, between my rear and said engine. Help.

The drivers side was never fitted with insulation as it is not needed. Where does the temperature needle get to on the guage. If it goes above a quarter you have an overheating problem. Derek.

Mines about the same chop. It did get a bit warmer up and down the welsh hills a couple of weeks back.
Think I'll try a back flush and some new coolant first, before getting too worried

Hello Chop, Anti-freeze is a much more efficient coolant than water. The higher the ratio of it you add to the water the cooler it will run.
Derek.

Not too sure on the pipes - never really lifted the seats to squeeze them - will give it a try next time I'm out and about

Hi Sue, You may want to check that the passenger side seat is insulated (there should be silvery time stuff underneath it on the engine side) and that the rubber seals are also sealing properly. Easiest way to check is just let the engine get warm and see if you can feel a breeze through the gap. Other than that just make sure the engine itself is not overheating and that your heater is not stuck 'on'.

Thanks for the advice re overheated cab - it is not the engine, apart from sitting on it, its the lack of insulation, I have recently met a nipper owner who showed me his!! Can anyone advise how and where to buy/acquire the correct material? A friend has said he will do it for me.

I fitted stick on draft excluder around the seat hatch. This helped with excess heat leaching out AND helped quite things down a little.
