Hi all,

Back on line finally- does anyone know why my van, which sailed through the emmission test, starts spluttering after 30+ mile run, never fails too start, ht leads etc replaced about 2 years ago, engine flush completed, cam belt changed 12 months ago, but flies along motorway with no falter, but once in urban territory, coughs and spluts and loses power at low revs, so that you really have to rev it to get it moving- it's very mysterious any ideas anyone  Shocked

Ignition timing slightly out or carburation troubles.

Slow running jet or accelleration jet furred up?
With the engine at normal temperature kick the accellerator pedal sharply. Engine should rev up instantly.
If it doesn`t you have blocked jets.
Take the air cleaner off & look into the carb. Press pedal. You should see petrol spray out from the accelleration jet in a strong spurt. If it doesn`t it is blocked.

Mine tends to get these symptoms every few months, you may want to try replacing your condenser as that can cause all manner of iffy running especially at low revs if it does not feel like it want to rev out without being forced.
