As far as I know with bankruptcy the Inland Revenue/Custom & Excise have 1st. call on any assets/money. Next in line is the workforce for any monies & I think some or all redundancy money owed is provided by or guaranteed by the government. After this comes the rest of the creditors. I suggest an internet search or your local Citizens Advice Centre.

Other way around Dell for bankrupcty. Workforce first then the taxman etc and there'l probably be nothing for the creditors. The Official Receiver will apoint administrators to either wind up of if the order books healty run the firm for a bit. Either way the workers will loose. Sorry

Oh Hell Chop,
just what you don't want....
Yes, best go to a Citizens advice centre, you can read & listen all you like, but they honestly are set up for that sort of advice and will be sympathetic to your cause. After 13 years you WILL be entitled to something from the government indirestly yes!!
Go self employed, using your trade, start off odd jobbin' it'll build up, and what a vehicle you have for an advert too!!
If you want, I'll supply the lettering for free!!! even more I'll meet you somewhere between me & yorkshireland & put it on!!!
E mail me, you knpw it makes sense!!
Chin Up,
Titch

Assets sold and then the Insolvency practitioner and legal costs come first, then any loans secured against business or property then the workers. You may get your wages dependent on what remains.
