I  regret having to write this but i feel a warning is needed. i assumed that being a member we would all treat each other fair and square unfortunately that is not the case, this is a warning to other members just because you deal with a fellow member do not assume you will be treated fair.the good news i know the ones i can trust now

Sorry to hear that mate.  I too would have assumed that we're all in this together to look out for each other with our common love for rascals.  This forum has been such a usefull place with so much information, knowledge and passion. It's sad that people have abused that.  I'm glad you didn't throw it all in as I have enjoyed seeing the progress to your van!

Sorry to hear that, its never nice to see people on a friendly forum like this spoiling the rapor and trust that builds up.  I had a narrow escape when I was a regular on the MG Rover forum - a lot more members had problems with the  guy - google roger brakewell.

Was it the engine you had problems with that you bought off here JJ?

This is the internets, never trust anyone. I'm sorry that you got caught out.

I know what its like to be had. Just look at my freaking bambi, lol. They told me it was damp free and was only just short of mint. How stupid I feel to this day, I have been through blood sweat and tears with it. While I scrape off mould ridden walls for hour after hour. It's pushed me to the emotional limit at times.

If only I could have had that guys neck. I'm down well over 2 grand.

I think tha to a greater or lesser extent we all have had similar experiences but this comes with loving and buying a 20 year old motor thats sometimes not been as cared for as it should but nevertheless is still a super motor to have  Smiley

My Bambi came with a MOT and I drove it 250 miles to home without a problem.  Then took her to Tim's for a thorough overhaul which cost a similar amount but having had the experience of buying other old vehicles, all older than 20 years, I did expect it and allowed for this and so my lovely Bambi at just over 3 or so thousand is, for me, money well spent and one of my better buys Smiley

I supplied a rebuilt engine  £500.00 plus £40.00 delivery to a customer with three Rascals all with blown engines. His mechanic phoned me a couple of weeks later to say the engine had gone bang.
I took another engine 60 miles to his mechanic & collected the blown one. All free of charge.
On stripping the engine I came to the conclusion it was not the one I supplied & I think I had been conned by
the guy. I hope I wasn`t but the suspicion is there. The returned engine had a broken con rod.
I have had a cleaned/set up carb I supplied returned to me as being no good & sent out another only to realise it was not the carb I originally sent out that was returned. The customer got two good carbs for the price of one. I have had so called running carbs removed from their vans that must have been pulled out of a pond, damaged & were scrap as an  exchange unit.
It works both ways I`m afraid.
Derek.

The difference is, is that Tim would have barely taken mine in, and from speaking to him I was under the impression he didn't want to. It was that bad. Tim could have done it if I had a budget of approx. £5000. Fair enough price considering he would have literally had to rebuild it from scratch. I was gutted.

Whether or not 20 years, it was bought in good faith and assumed rust and mechanics would be my primary concern. Yet I still cheated by this aussie and his sweet over the phone talking girl friend from Norfolk. Yes if your out there and reading this you know who you are. Never again will I do business with an aussie under those circumstances. Being on the other side of the planet is where that couple belong.

The only thing thats has sustained me in my struggle is the support and kind words of my neighbours and the people here. Random people in the street are even commenting on how much they love the van. The power of kindness always over comes the darkness of greed and lies.
