coolant leak
«

Hello again,
Thanks to the advice I received here yesterday, I finished hooking up the new engine and started to put in the fluids.
I discovered a coolant leak immediately.
It is appearing from the bottom of the bell-housing.
I'm scratching my head because I can't see a hose leaking and am wondering where it is likely to be coming from to appear here.
Have to cancel the MOT now!
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Dom

Thanks for the reply,
I was half expecting a slightly worrying diagnosis.
The block was rebored for oversized pistons and the head skimmed.
But it had been lying under a tarp in a field for a few years!!
I guess I should remove the transmission for a butchers?

Most likely the rear core plug. Possibly the bypass hose.

Thank gawd it was the easiest fix - the plate with four bolts at the back of the block. Is that what you refer to as the rear core plug Derek?
It was rather corroded and I had used instant gasket.
Luckily had another block with a cleaner plate and made a proper gasket this time.
All is well, thanks for your input.

No, the rear core plug is in the rear of the cylinder head.
