I'm just about to start gathering items for my Rascal's first service since I bought it a couple of months ago.

The Haynes manual lists the spark plugs as Champion RN9YCC. Does anyone have any recommendations for other / better spark plugs for the Rascal? Thanks.

HI Gary...my outlook on this is if it isnt broke then leave it to do its job...just check the gap from time to time...you can use NGKBPR6ES...which are equivalent...but no idea if you can get better than these....

When should the spark plugs be changed? Some times in the morning it might take 3 or 4 good turns to get the motor started (in the cold).

I don't really have the tool to check the spark plugs.

Cheers.

some people change them every service 12months ...and some people like myself change them when they start to look a bit dodgy..i have had the same set in for three years..and i take them out now and again and clean them and check the gap..the electrode area should be a beige light brown colour if engine is running well...

your starting problems could be one of many things..just a process of ellimination...if your not at all happy with the spark plugs then they are cheap enough to replace....good luck
