My rascal keeps getting really hot and over heating  and im not sure what it is?
Any ideas Huh Huh

Head gasket??? Leaking radiator??? No water???

GO ON JEN......go girl...

JOFUS..could be....water pump...thermostat...radiator blckage...air locked system..the list goes on but check these things first

is it losing water .can you see any leaks ...any steam when hot...is their oil in the water.(expansion tank)..give us a bit more information...

i did notice today a leak in the expansion bottle which ill have a look at!

If you have no coolant leaks & no oil in the water or water in the oil you need a new radiator. Change it NOW not later or you will wreck the cylinder head. If all is well with cooling system the temperature guage should settle at a 1/4 on the guage. Also thermostat could be jammed shut causing overheating. Derek.

ill take it to my mates garage for him to have a look at it
its not the thermostat because ive had that taken out!ive just had a new pistons put in it and it wasnt overheating before that!
can you give me a couple pointers to tell my friend so he can have a look
he reckons maybe water pump?

put your thermostat back in...it is there for a reason..if you run car without the thermostat you will get hot water at the outlet top of the engine and colder water at the inlet which will create a big difference in temparature accross the engine ...and that wont do it any good..it needs to be as even as possible to prevent warping.......

Like Chop said put your thermostat back but test it by putting it in boiling water to check it opens properly. If the water pump shows no sign of leaking I doubt thats the problem. FIT A NEW RADIATOR!!!!!! There you go, your making me shout now. Derek.
