fitted the new rear hub oil seal ,old one was quite worn ,built it back up and was looking at the breather on top of the diff and seemed to be seized, freed it of with a pair of molegrips,am just wondrin if its been blocked causing the axle to pressurise because when i had bearing out it looked as though it had forced the grease out of the bearing, has anybody else had this problem, also  the little breather thing on top of the axle, you can  now twist it back and forwards about a 1/4 of an inch,is this normal, fingers crossed everythings ok
thanks for the seal derek, you saved me buying a bearing kit

If there is a little dark staining/dampness around the breather it is probably working o.k.
Overfilling the differential is the most common cause of seal failure or just old age.
From memory I have only come accross three failed oil seals & I think they were all on the near side.
