I have just remover the heater/fan assembly and pulled it open, then extracted the heater core. Hooked it up to a garden hose (same size as fittings- convenience!) and stuck a finger in the outlet- and it was like sponge weeping! It needs the core replaced! In Australia a radiator specialist can remove the existing core and solder in a new one after chemical cleaning and sand blasting the top and bottom tanks. I had them do the Carry's radiator a couple of months ago for AU$130.. then one in my falcon for AU$110!! and litterally over twice the size in every way! BUT the heater core- being a small odd size is AU$298 for the core!! and that's before the cut the old core out, chemical clean and sand blast, solder new core to clean tanks and paint! He does has a  pile of old unused strange size cores in his shed that will be far cheaper if hes got one though!!

Otherwise I'm thinking of finding a substitute.. cutting a larger core/radiator down? Had a thought of seeing how big and durable computer radiators(like in big water cooled systems) come, might be able to get a similar size and exchange the tap and fittings?

So if ANYONE has ANY IDEAS that will be cheaper than AU$298 I'm all ears!! I need one for a roadworthy.

all help greatly appreciated!!!

Hi,
couldn't someone from the UK post one over, second hand but refurbished & tested?

Of course it must be sent, as a 'gift'

Regards,

Fill with caustic soda[diluted] & leave standing for a couple of days. Then blast it with high water pressure avoiding contact with your eyes or skin to blast the muck out. Repeat until cleared. Derek.
