Hiya, just a quick question.
Where abouts does the needle sit on your temp gauge when its up to normal temperature? I've change the thermostat and it runs like a dream, but the gauge is only sitting about a quarter of the way up and has never gone over this even when sitting in traffic?
Is this normal of should i be investigating the sender / gauge unit (i have the fear of it overheating and not knowing)?
Cheers in advance
Andy

Just to add that be wary when buying a new Thermostat. Some do not have a small hole in the diaphragm, which will lead to overheating!

For as long as I have had my van it is generally:
Winter: 1/4th the way up guage when warmed up (3-4 miles) Summer: 1/2 the way up guage when warmed up
Most I ever see is 3/4 if I push the van to 80mph for more than a few miles.

Exactly the same readings on my Bambi, but I know the radiator is pretty ineffective (turning the heater to hot causes a good drop in the reading).

Shouldn`t go above 1/3 in any conditions. Halve or above & you need a new radiator. Derek.

Or your fans broke...or you have a tesco carrier bag stuck on the front of your radiator...or thermostat not opening or water pump inefficiant...etc etc..
