Hi,

Certain parts of my Bambi's aluminum skin are very brittle, like egg shells. I have had to remove a roof beam and the metal that the beam was next to is very brittle and perforates very easily. I've managed to make a few holes with just my finger nail!

This area was also near the Zig unit. In fact I have had to rip the entire zig out to do this part of the operation.

Therefore, I wonder if some sort of dodgy uninsulated electrics may be to blame for all the holes, or simply because that section of the skin was exposed to prolonged dampness?

Also is there an effective repair of perforated aluminium apart from replacing entire sheets?

Cheers

Fibreglass resin? Just paint it on without the glassfibre.

Now im not sure of the framework construction on the bambi but if it is the pillers or roof sticks that have corroded, better to slip new ones in and as for panels, maybe to run strips of aluminium sheet along the length of the damaged area (if side panels) and then run an aluminium molding over the "on show" joint. Seal everything as well in construction,
and if it is roof panelling, sheets can be bought at any length and 8oot widths off a coil of aliminium sheet

pillers panels and roof sticks should be available from commercial body builders around your area, or look for aluminium suppiers to the coachbuilding industry
